Artwork by Taymar Spencer

Bones shaped into letters. A skull for the O. This photograph shows the original RIZO artwork open in Photoshop, still inside the working file.

Drawn by Taymar Spencer, the lettering became part of RIZO’s Skeleton pieces. The photograph is preserved here as a small record of the work behind the clothes.

Whenever somebody tells me they saw someone in Rizo, I always ask: Who? What did they look like? Where?

From the table

The community showed up for us.

The most recent WPSD day had plenty go wrong before we got there. Last-minute supplies, a fundraiser, a new ride, figuring out who was in charge of what.

Then people started helping. One kid went home and brought us Ziploc bags because we needed them. A woman running her own table kept checking on us, giving pointers and taking our pictures. Aiden had the table set up before I arrived and spent the day helping kids make shirts.

I was scared out of my mind. It was also the first time I really felt like a boss. The kids had fun. The community made us feel like we belonged there.
